Halloween Through The Years...

I didn't really do Halloween as a kid. My parents didn't grow up with it, and it was not allowed at my Jewish elementary school (neither was SAINT Valentine's Day. Crazy, I know!). So, it wasn't until college that I fully embraced the creative opportunities that come with All Hallows' Eve!

Freshman year, I was legitimately into retro comics. I even wrote a research paper on the Fantastic Four, and this Wonder Woman poster was hanging in my dorm room. All the details were made from cardboard and scraps of fabric + paint. Sophomore year I pulled out the sewing machine and crafted this silly Curious George costume. There was also a man in the yellow hat involved.

The 2 costumes above were both from senior year of college. My Bjork swan dress is made from plastic garbage bags, feathers, and lots of duck tape. The swan neck is crumpled up newspapers wrapped in masking tape and painted. The Olive Hoover costume from Little Miss Sunshine was pulled together in about half an hour for the second night of the weekend. Everything I'm wearing is borrowed from roommates. Some of my friends still reference this as my best costume ever.

My Medusa costume was worn for my first NYC Village Halloween Parade. And I realize I may not have Shawn Johnson's muscles, but I am 3 inches taller (I don't get to claim that often!).

Last year I was in Poland during Halloween, so after a 2 year hiatus, I was excited to get back into the spirit! Adam and I did a joint costume last night...

Can you tell who we are?? If you think you know, leave a comment with your guess!

Happy Halloween!!
