Ode to The Magician

You know how once something enters your consciousness it starts popping up everywhere? Well, last Saturday I went to a Houdini exhibit at The Jewish Museum (he was apparently born Erik Weisz, an immigrant from Hungary. Who knew!). The next night Houdini's brother, Hardeen, is not only mentioned, but makes a significant appearance on Boardwalk Empire, and then I watched an old episode of Freaks and Geeks, and Bill says "That's how Houdini died!" in reference to being punched in the stomach (Houdini, I learned, died of a burst appendix).

Now that Houdini has sufficiently infiltrated my mind, I thought a little ode to the magician would be appropriate. Granted, Houdini was more of an escapologist, rather than a rabbit-out-of-the-hat magician, but we can overlook that here, right?

I saw Hardeen on Boardwalk Empire and it reminded me that I once did a project on Houdini when I was a kid! :-)
