Urbanized

Have you seen Urbanized, the most recent and final edition to Gary Hustwit's triology of design documentaries? As a tried and true city girl, I was excited to see Hustwit's showcase of urban design and was fortunate to see the NYC premiere including a Q&A with the director and Amanda Burden, director of the New York City Department of City Planning. Most interesting to me was when Ms. Burden was asked her top priority for change. She answered without hesitation "opening up the New York City waterfronts." If you've been to Brooklyn Bridge Park recently you can already see her work coming to fruition. The Dumbo/Brooklyn Heights waterfront is one of my favorite spots in all 5 boroughs, and I'm hearing similar things are happening along the West side of Manhattan...

If you're in New York, you can hear Gary Hustwit speak at an upcoming AIGA event on December 8th. And if you've seen all 3 films I'd love to hear which is your favorite (mine is still Helvetica).
